Why I’m glad it was ONLY a hologram.

In May 1998, the Japanese rock band X Japan whom had a massive fan base in Japan had to split up due to the death of lead Guitarist Hideto Matsumoto (hide). However, the band had re-assembled and were working on future projects even through the tragic and emotional loss of the frontman. On March 28, 2008 during a song, a hologram projection of hide was played alongside the band, marking an emotional and sort of creepy performance for the fans.

4 years later, Dr Dre paid a heck of a lot of money for what we have all seen, heard, read about and watched for what happened at Coachella 2012. I’m not going to bore you with chronological facts about what happened, because you’d undoubtedly read many articles and reports on the performance.

Some people believe it was really Pac and he isn’t dead, some people think it was a look-a-like, some didn’t know who Pac was (may God bless their souls and lead them to the light), some were just baffled/shocked/scared/creeped out.. but one thing is for sure.. I’m 100% GLAD Tupac isn’t alive, and it was ONLY a hologram?

Why?

I saw the hologram put up a middle finger. If that was really him, that middle finger would be aimed at today’s Hip Hop. He was alive in an era were Nas and Jay-Z were up and coming, where Dr. Dre was unearthing his hidden gems in Eminem, 50 etc.. Ice Cube, Eazy E, and Biggie was alive. That middle finger would have been towards Birdman, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne.. the mainstream artists today who have ruined the reputation of Hip Hop. Who want to rap about cars, money, alcohol, drugs.. and not what Tupac’s era rapped about. Is this the pain and suffer Tupac would have to witness had he still been alive?

These two quote comparisons of Tupac and Soulja Boy when he was the same age sum up my whole point right down to the bone.

‘My mother taught me 3 things, respect, knowledge; the search for knowledge. It’s an eternal, eternal journey and not to be quiet. If there was something on my mind to speak it and also listen. She told me this joke, that God gave you two ears to listen and one mouth to speak. And that’s where the knowledge comes from, listening. And once you get the knowledge, you can speak it.’ - Tupac Shakur AGED 17

‘Shout out to all the slave masters, without them we’d still be in Africa we wouldn’t be here to get this ice and tattoos’ - Soulja Boy AGED 18.

On an end note to my first proper blog, ask yourself this, how can a hologram of a rapper still be so much more real than the mainstream sellouts of 2012?

I’m 19, a student, and I have a lot to say.

This is my first ever blog cue a string of long and intriguing blogs. I want to take this first step to say there are many topics in the world today I’m very strongly opinionated about, but I wish to say I don’t mean to offend anyone nor do I want anyone to take anything the wrong way. Opinion leaders are what makes the world what it is today.

I am simply here to write about things I want to write about.
